Xi Wang leads Grünwettersbach to victory
ASV Grünwettersbach wins 3:1 against TSV Bad Königshofen on the 17th matchday of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL). The match-winner for the hosts was Xi Wang with two single wins.
ASV Grünwettersbach will only reluctantly remember the first leg: on match day 3, the Baden team was already leading 2:0, then Ricardo Walther and Tiago Apolonia both had victory in sight - but in the end TSV Bad Königshofen triumphed. Today, ASV wanted to do better. And they succeeded: defensive strategist Xi Wang put his colors in front after three quick sets against Martin Allegro and thus first of all ensured a good feeling on the bench of the hosts.
However, this did not last too long, as in the second singles Tiago Apolonia was on the losing end against Bastian Steger in three sets. But ASV regained their composure and took the lead again through Ricardo Walther against Filip Zeljko, before Xi Wang, who could not be beaten today, scored his second win against Bastian Steger and thus secured the 3:1 overall victory for ASV Grünwettersbach.
Comments on the match
Xi Wang, ASV Grünwettersbach: "I am very happy that we won today. At home, we can always rely on the support of the spectators. Today was no different. Many thanks to the fans."
Martin Allegro, TSV Bad Königshofen: "Congratulations to Grünwettersbach. They were very strong today, especially Xi Wang. We had our chances to get into the doubles, but we couldn't use them. Accordingly, we are disappointed."
