World Table Tennis Championships: China's sixth double triumph perfect
China's men's team has also extended its title subscription at the World Table Tennis Championships in Busan, South Korea. The Asians won the final against France 3:0 and celebrated their eleventh World Championship gold in a row.
At the same time, the record winners led by top star Ma Long completed China's sixth double triumph in a row by winning their 23rd title in total. The women had successfully defended their title on Saturday with a 3-2 win over Japan.
France reached their first World Cup final in 27 years with a 3-1 win in the final round against Taiwan, who had stumbled to Germany 3-0 in the quarter-finals. China beat the hosts 3-2 in the semifinals. In the women's competition, bronze went to Hong Kong and France, who beat European champions Germany 3-2 in the round of the best eight.
The German teams' quarter-final defeats left them without a medal for the first time in eight years, two years after winning silver for the men and bronze for the women.
The next World Championship titles will be awarded in the five individual competitions in Doha in 2025. In 2026, another World Team Championships will be held in London.
