Werder Bremen wins 3:0 against Bad Homburg

SV Werder Bremen made an exclamation mark on the 18th matchday of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL)! With a convincing 3:0 home win against TTC OE Bad Homburg, the Hanseatic team left no stone unturned and dominated the visitors from Hesse for long stretches of the match.

Mattias Falck made a clear statement in the first singles match. Against the Hungarian youngster Csaba Andras, the Swedish veteran dictated the action right from the start and made it clear that Bremen would not be handing out any gifts on this evening. Falck controlled the first two sets with his powerful forehand (11:8, 11:6). Andras fought back in the third with a close 11:9, but Falck kept his cool and took the fourth set 11:9 to secure Bremen's first point.

Excitement in the second singles match - Putuntica defeats Karlsson

The second singles match between Andrei Putuntica and Kristian Karlsson developed into the most exciting encounter of the evening. Putuntica got off to a furious start, dictated the pace and secured the first two sets. However, Karlsson fought back, fending off a match point in the third set and winning two sets to force the decider. Putuntica got off to the better start there, held his nerve and secured the second point for Bremen with an 11:7 (11:6, 11:9, 11:13, 7:11, 11:7).

With a comfortable 2:0 lead behind him, Kirill Gerassimenko had the opportunity to make Bremen's victory perfect early on. The Kazakh left no doubt against Yuma Tsuboi right from the start and clearly dominated the first two sets. Tsuboi managed to shorten the gap with a strong phase in the third set, but Gerassimenko did not allow himself to be rattled and secured the decisive third point with a commanding 11:6 in the fourth set (11:4, 11:5, 5:11, 11:6).

Bremen on course - Bad Homburg remains first class despite crisis

With this clear 3:0 victory, SV Werder Bremen has collected important points and remains in the top half of the table. For TTC OE Bad Homburg, on the other hand, the situation in the relegation zone remains unchanged. The Hessians are still fighting against relegation, but regardless of their position in the table, one thing is certain: Bad Homburg can continue to play in the TTBL next season, as no second division team is aiming for promotion.
