VICTORY IN BAD KÖNIGSHOFEN - SAARBRÜCKEN BACK AT THE TOP OF THE TABLE

VICTORY IN BAD KÖNIGSHOFEN - SAARBRÜCKEN BACK AT THE TOP OF THE TABLE

At the end of the third matchday, 1 FC Saarbrücken TT traveled to TSV Bad Königshofen in Lower Franconia. The Saarlanders were the favorites and wanted to get the season off to a perfect start with their third win in the third match.

Not a single player from the second league match - which the Saarlanders had won 3-0 against Grünwettersbach - took to the table for 1. FC Saarbrücken TT. They were joined by their two top players Patrick Franziska and Darko Jorgic, while Cedric Nuytinck made his first appearance of the season at number three.

Martin Allegro again unlucky in the fifth set

After Darko Jorgic won the first match of the day 3:0 against Bastian Steger, it was time for Martin Allegro to face Patrick Franziska. On the face of it, it seemed to be a fairly straightforward affair, but the match turned out to be a real five-set thriller. As in the cup against Benedikt Duda, Martin Allegro once again put in a strong performance in this encounter, but once again it was not quite enough to win in the deciding set.

Franziska confidently takes the final point

Filip Zeljko scored the only point for the hosts this evening with a 3:1 win against Cedric Nuytinck and brought his team back to 1-2, but Patrick Franziska did not let anything burn in his match against Bastian Steger and closed the deal. Saarbrücken are now top of the table with three wins from their first three matches.

Comments on the match:

Darko Jorgic (1. FC Saarbrücken TT): "I played quite well and am very happy with my form. I've always struggled against Bastian Steger and won against him for the first time today. I'm going back to Saarbrücken today and then off to the European Championships tomorrow."

Filip Zeljko (TSV Bad Königshofen): "The 1:3 defeat hurts, of course. Franziska and Jorgic were simply too strong today, but we'll get revenge in the second leg and we'll win it."
