Unified team performance: Grenzau cheers against Bremen
A sigh of relief in Grenzau. With a 3:0 win against SV Werder Bremen, TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau climbs back out of the relegation zone on Matchday 18 of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL).
In the first singles match, Yi-Hsin Feng competed for TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau against Christian Pletea from SV Werder Bremen. Yi-Hsin Feng could convince from the beginning with a sovereign performance and won the match clearly with 3:0 sets (11:7, 11:8, 11:8).
In the second match of the evening Patrick Baum had to face the currently best player of the TTBL, Mattias Falck. The sets were extremely close from the start and were hard-fought. In the end Patrick Baum could prevail with 3:2 sets (11:7, 4:11, 11:9, 4:11, 11:7) and secure the 2:0 lead for TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau.
Maciej Kubik makes Grenzau cheer
In the third game Kirill Gerassimenko should bring SV Werder Bremen back on the road to success. But Maciej Kubik on the side of the TTC knew how to prevent this. With 7:11, 14:12, 11:9, 6:11 and 11:6, the 20-year-old Pole finally prevailed over his opponent from Bremen and thus sealed the 3:0 victory of the TTC over SV.
Slobodan Grujic (TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau): "Today we played all three matches very well and deserved to win. It was especially a nice game for the spectators with great rallies. With this victory we get very important points and I hope it will continue like this."
Christian Pletea (SV Werder Bremen): "Before the match our team was a bit tired mentally and our opponents also played very well today. We now have to focus on training again to play better in the next match."
In the end, TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau won 3-0 against SV Werder Bremen and secured important points in the standings in the race to stay in the class. TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau is now level on points with TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell, who also played a close and exciting match with TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt in the evening.
