Twelve clubs apply for licence for the 2024/25 TTBL season

Ten clubs in the German Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) as well as BV Borussia 09 Dortmund and TTC OE Bad Homburg 1987 from Bundesliga 2 have submitted their licence applications for the 2024/25 TTBL season by the deadline. 1. FSV Mainz 05 has decided not to submit a licence application and will compete in the 2nd Bundesliga in the coming season.

In addition to the applications from ten first division clubs, BV Borussia 09 Dortmund and TTC OE Bad Homburg 1987, the current league leaders and second-placed team from Bundesliga 2, have also submitted their applications in time to play in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) in the 2024/25 season. The first stage of the licensing process for the coming season has therefore been completed. In the coming weeks, the twelve applicants will now undergo the licence review process, in which the clubs' legal, personnel, administrative, infrastructural and financial criteria will be examined.

If all applicants fulfil the necessary requirements to participate in the league, the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) would once again reach the target number of twelve clubs in the 2024/25 season. Due to the decision by 1. FSV Mainz 05 not to apply for a licence for the coming season, there will be no relegated teams in the current 2023/2024 TTBL season.

1. FSV Mainz 05 will compete in the 2nd Bundesliga in the coming season. This decision was made by the table tennis department of the Bundesliga football club irrespective of the sporting outcome of the current TTBL season. 1. FSV Mainz 05 cites economic reasons for its decision.
