TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen takes revenge
After two defeats against TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell in the last season of the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL), TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen did better this time and defeated the East Hessians 3:0.
That was a successful revenge. On the very first match day of the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL), the Upper Swabians defeated TTC RhönSprudel Fulda- Maberzell and showed a strong performance. The first two singles went smoothly in three sets to the TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen. First, Simon Gauzy gave Fanbo Meng from Fulda no chance in a 3:0 (11:4, 11:5, 11:8) win, and a little later Kanak Jha defeated Quadri Aruna just as clearly. Here, too, the score was 3:0 (12:10, 11:4, 11:9).
Fulda's coach Qing Yu Meng was understandably not enthusiastic about either the result or the course of the match: "We lost the first two games far too quickly. I didn't expect us to lose so clearly."
Alexandre Cassin out of rhythm after injury
Alexandre Cassin seemed to be the one to turn things around for the Fulda team. He played well in the first two sets against Alvaro Robles and led 2:0. At 2:0 and 3:3 in the third set, Cassin tore his finger open on the table and had to be treated for almost eight minutes. After that, he was able to continue playing, but did not find his confident game from the first two sets. Robles did not give in and took the next three sets. It didn't help that Cassin kicked the table; he couldn't stave off defeat. "In the first two sets, Robles had no chance," Qing Yu Meng analyzed. "But after his injury, Alexandre's head was not in it."
On the other hand, the match winner from Ochsenhausen was satisfied. "I am very happy that we won and that I decided my match for me," said Alvaro Robles. "At the beginning of the match I was very nervous, Cassin played well and dominated the match. After his injury, I took my chance."
After less than two hours the match was over and Ochsenhausen had at least partially taken revenge for last season, back then they were level on points with the Fuldaers, but due to the worse match ratio the Oberschwaben missed the entry into the play-offs and had to give way to the Hessians.
