Saarbrücken celebrates second win
The 1st FC Saarbrücken TT from Germany celebrates the second victory in the group D of the top division. The Saarlanders won 3:1 away against Roskilde Bordtennis BTK 61 this evening.
In the opening duel Cedric Nuytinck defeated Sweden's Jens Lundquist 3:0 (11:9, 11:9, 11:9) before Patrick Franziska widened the gap with a clear win over Michael Maze (11:4, 11:2, 11:4). In the third match it became more exciting when Mikkel Hindersson won over Hiromu Kobayashi in a close duel (13:11, 9:11, 5:11, 11:8, 6:4). Patrick Franziska then also had to go the full distance against Lundquist and was able to secure the second victory of Stage 2 for 1. FC Saarbrücken TT (11:3, 11:8, 7:11, 7:11, 6:4).
"We are very happy about this win because it got a bit tight at the end. We did well until 2-0, but then Hindersson played really well. He fought back with some crazy backhands. After leading 2-0, it suddenly became difficult for me as well. I thought I was in control, but Lundquist fought back. In the end, I finished the duel in the fifth set. That was important for the team. Now we have two wins and we are looking forward to the upcoming duels," said Patrick Franziska on the ETTU website.
