TTCLM: Düsseldorf remains unbeaten, Saarbrücken advances

After the first leg win, Borussia Düsseldorf has its sights firmly set on the next round of the Table Tennis Champions League (TTCLM) with a 3-1 win at HB Ostrov Havlickuv Brod in the second leg. Also the 1st FC Saarbrücken TT is on course, on Thursday there was a 3:1 at AS Pontoise Cergy TT.

Already in the first leg in Group A of the Champions League (TTCLM) Tomas Martinko had proved to be an insurmountable obstacle for Borussia Düsseldorf, and this did not change on Thursday evening. But once again it was not enough for a surprise for the Czechs. As in the first encounter, Borussia Düsseldorf prevailed 3:1 to stay on course for the semifinals and record their tenth win in ten matches in the competition. "I'm glad we won twice against Ostrov," said Borussia coach Danny Heister. Things continue for Düsseldorf in the TTCLM on December 1 with an away match in Poland at KS Bogoria Grodzisk Mazowiecki. "Now it comes to the showdown with Bogoria for the group win," added Heister.

Dang Qiu made everything clear: With a 2:0 set lead behind him, the European champion defied a third set deficit against Michal Obeslo and finally won the match 3:0 (11:8, 11:6, 13:11). Qiu also won his first duel, beating Pavel Sirucek 3:0 (11:8, 11:6, 11:9). Anton Källberg was also successful with 3:1 (11:4, 11:9, 8:11, 11:7) against Tomas Tregler. The only defeat was suffered by Kay Stumper with 1:3 (9:11, 11:9, 9:11, 8:11) against Martinko. "This was an important step towards winning the group," noted manager Andreas Preuß. "It's good that we arrived so early, trained and could get used to the hall. The playing conditions are already a bit special: small hall, the spectators are close, and it's very loud. But a great atmosphere. It should be like that everywhere."
