DESPITE CALDERANO'S DEFEAT - OCHSENHAUSEN GETS ITS FIRST WIN AGAINST MAINZ

DESPITE CALDERANO'S DEFEAT - OCHSENHAUSEN GETS ITS FIRST WIN AGAINST MAINZ

At the end of the third matchday, TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen had to face 1. FSV Mainz 05 at home, with Calderano, Gauzy and Akkuzu - the first win of the season was a must.

While Saarbrücken were able to record their third win in their third match against Bad Königshofen at the same time, TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen had a rather difficult start to the season. Defeats against Düsseldorf and Mühlhausen left them and Mainz without any points... but that was to change for one of the two teams this evening.

Calderano has to concede defeat to Mladenovic

Like Simon Gauzy in the first round of last season, Hugo Calderano was now also beaten by Luka Mladenovic, who celebrated his first appearance of the season with a 3:1 win against the world No. 5. However, in his second singles match of the day, the player from Mainz was unable to secure another victory against Simon Gauzy.

Ochsenhausen shows stronger nerves

Both the match between Gauzy and Sipos and the match between Akkuzu and Rossi went into the decisive fifth set. Despite strong performances from Mainz, TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen came away from the table in both matches. As a result, the visitors only won one singles match and Ochsenhausen were able to celebrate their first win of the season in their first home match.

Voice of the match:

Simon Gauzy: "There's no easy match in the Bundesliga, so I'm very happy that we won today and I'm also happy that I won against Mladenovic...it's unbelievable in a positive sense how he plays."
