The play-off participants have been determined | First games already scheduled
One matchday before the end of the main round of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL), the four play-off participants have been determined: Borussia Düsseldorf, 1. FC Saarbrücken TT, TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen and Post SV Mühlhausen will fight for a place in the Liebherr TTBL finals in May.
When Post SV Mühlhausen won the final doubles against the guests from Ochsenhausen on the last matchday, the penultimate decision in the play-off race of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) was made. The Thuringians can now no longer be ousted from the top four and are thus in the play-off semifinals for the second time in a row and for the second time in the club's history. Borussia Düsseldorf as the main round winner, second-placed 1. FC Saarbrücken TT and TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen have also made it. The final decision will be made on the 22nd matchday on April 30, when it will be decided whether Ochsenhausen or Mühlhausen will finish the season in third place in the table. After that, the semi-final pairings will be decided.
Düsseldorf and Saarbrücken are once again the favorites for the title. The two teams not only played a dominant main round and duelled in the final of the Champions League, but also faced each other in the Liebherr TTBL final in the past two years, with the better end for Borussia in each case. Saarbrücken was crowned German champion last and for the first time in the club's history in 2020, at that time by beating Ochsenhausen in the final.
Now that the pairings have been determined, the remaining dates will be set. The home matches of Düsseldorf and Saarbrücken have already been scheduled: FCS will play the third-place team in the first leg on May 5, while Borussia will host the fourth-place team in the second leg on May 11. The play-off semifinals will be played in best-of-3 mode - so if there is no winner after the first and second legs, there will be a decisive third match. Once again, the club with the higher ranking in the main round, i.e. Düsseldorf or Saarbrücken, would have home rights.
