The first quarter-final ticket awaits: Cologne receives Mulhouse

The first decision in the main round of the German Table Tennis Cup is waiting: Tomorrow, Saturday, 1. FC Köln receives Post SV Mühlhausen. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals.

1.FC Köln already has the best result in the German Table Tennis Cup in the club's history in the bag. At the end of August, the team from the 2nd Bundesliga had asserted itself in the preliminary round and thus made it to the round of the last 16 for the first time. Tomorrow, Saturday, the Cologne team will have the chance to top this result. In the first round of 16 of this cup season, the FC receives Post SV Mühlhausen and thus the current tenth in the table tennis Bundesliga (TTBL).

"We have the hope that maybe one or the other player will give us chances," FC player Gianluca Walther told the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger and might hold this hope also because of the start of the season of Mühlhausen. Post SV won only one of the first three TTBL matches, but against strong opponents and last Monday managed a 3:2 against 1. FSV Mainz 05. In addition: competition-wide, Mühlhausen is already at four wins in a row, before that there had finally been three victories in Stage 1 of the Champions League.

The other quarter-final tickets will be allocated in the coming week. On Thursday, September 22, TV 1879 will host record cup winner Borussia Düsseldorf. Five more matches will take place the next day on September 23, when two more second-league teams, TTC indeland Jülich and TTC Fortuna Passau, will be hoping for the big coup. The final decision will finally be made on Saturday, September 24, between ASV Grünwettersbach and 1. FSV Mainz 05. The winners will qualify for the quarterfinals, which will finally decide which four teams will move on to the Cup final, which will again be played as a Final Four event with two semifinals and a final on one day.
