Süwag Energie ARENA: The Liebherr TTBL final returns to Frankfurt
The grand finale of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) is drawing ever closer: On June 30, the German championship will be decided in the Liebherr TTBL final between Borussia Düsseldorf and 1. FC Saarbrücken TT. The venue for the TTBL showdown is the Süwag Energie ARENA in Frankfurt.
The wait for table tennis fans in the greater Frankfurt region will soon be over: the Liebherr TTBL final will take place in just over four weeks and will be held in the Rhine-Main metropolis for the first time since 2022. The venue is the Süwag Energie ARENA - and this also marks an anniversary: the showdown in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) will take place in Frankfurt for the tenth time. Last year, the Liebherr TTBL final was held in Düsseldorf due to its participation in the multi-sport event “The Finals - Rhine-Ruhr 2023”.
“We are delighted to be able to host the Süwag Energie ARENA again this year,” says Nico Stehle, Managing Director of Tischtennis Bundesliga GmbH. “Frankfurt is an important table tennis location: The German Table Tennis Association is at home here, and with TTC OE Bad Homburg, a team from the metropolitan region has also made it into the TTBL this season. Not only are there numerous table tennis fans in Frankfurt and the surrounding area, who we are already very much looking forward to, but we also receive great support from the sports city of Frankfurt, the Sportland Hessen, the Hessian Table Tennis Association and local and regional partners, to whom we are very grateful and without whom such an event would not be possible.”
Liebherr TTBL final in Frankfurt for the tenth time
The Ballsporthalle Frankfurt, which has officially been called the Süwag Energie ARENA since January 2023 thanks to the partnership with Süwag and is still known to many fans as the Fraport Arena, is used for numerous sporting events. It is home to the Skyliners Frankfurt, hosted the United Volleys Frankfurt for many years and was the venue for the Davis Cup, among other events.
The Liebherr TTBL Final was first held in Frankfurt in 2013 and has been the home of the TTBL's top event ever since. In addition to 2023, the Liebherr TTBL Final also moved once in 2021 to Dortmund to take part in “The Finals”. The WTT Champions is another table tennis event that takes place in Frankfurt. The tournament was held in Hesse for the first time last year and will take place again this fall (November 3-10) in the Süwag Energie ARENA.
