The Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) returns from its summer break at the end of August: The 2022/23 season kicks off with the 1st matchday on August 28 and 29. On Sunday, four matches are scheduled, including the TTBL debut of 1. FSV Mainz 05. The match day will be concluded with two matches on Monday evening, when defending champion Borussia Düsseldorf will also get into the action.
Just seven days after the European Championships in Munich, the next highlight awaits all table tennis fans. The Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) will kick off the new season on August 28 and 29 with the first matchday. Two matches will kick off the season on Sunday at noon: Starting at 1 p.m., the promoted 1. FSV Mainz 05 will make its debut in the TTBL with an away match at TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt. At the same time, ASV Grünwettersbach will play TTC Neu-Ulm, which has strengthened itself with the German national player and two-time Olympic bronze medal winner Dimitrij Ovtcharov.
The action continues on Sunday afternoon from 4 p.m. with two more matches. While TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell wants to lay the foundation for reaching the play-offs again with a success at TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen, TSV Bad Königshofen receives SV Werder Bremen. The match day will be concluded by two matches on Monday evening. Then the two dominant teams of the previous season will also get into the action: Starting at 6:30 p.m., reigning runner-up FC Saarbrücken TT will take on TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau; starting at 7 p.m., defending champion Borussia Düsseldorf will welcome Post SV Mühlhausen.
2nd matchday between the 2nd and 5th of September.
The 2nd matchday of the new season will take place the following weekend between September 2 and 5. It continues with the 3rd matchday between September 9 and 12 and the 4th matchday on September 18 and 19. Due to the currently not yet fixed match calendar of the world federation ITTF for autumn and winter of this year, the TTBL has decided to schedule only the first four match days of the new season for the time being. The scheduling of the other matches will follow as soon as the ITTF has scheduled the dates of the outstanding WTT tournaments. The schedule was created in cooperation with Ligalytics GmbH from Bad Homburg.
Also in the new season, all matches of the TTBL will be broadcast online in a livestream. For the first time, the matches can be seen on Spontent's channels on the streaming portal Twitch.
