Sport unites people, regardless of origin, culture, gender or language. The message of the leagues and clubs shows that they stand together and send a strong signal for diversity and tolerance.
The International Day Against Racism, which takes place every year on March 21, was proclaimed by the United Nations in 1966. This year, the motto of the week of action is "Get involved" to combat racism and discrimination.
Team sports, in particular, can play an important role in breaking down prejudice and teaching the importance of cohesion, tolerance and respect. Leagues are proud to show that sports can break down barriers.
Especially in these challenging times, it is more important than ever to stand up for a cause and work together. The common message across leagues and sports will help raise awareness of the importance of diversity and tolerance and strengthen cohesion between people of different nations and cultures.
