Shunsuke Togami makes debut for Ochsenhausen

For the first time, newcomer Shunsuke Togami stood at the table for TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL). Despite a success of the Japanese it was not enough for the overall victory in the end. ASV Grünwettersbach turned around a 0:2 deficit despite injury problems.

After two singles matches, it looked as if the TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen would live up to their role as favorites against ASV Grünwettersbach in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL). Shunsuke Togami also played a part in this. On his debut, he needed two sets against Deni Kozul to warm up. But then he got better and better into the match and turned the 0:2 set deficit into a victory.

The course of the match was similar in his second singles match - but this time without a happy ending for the Japanese player. He was also trailing 0:2 against Xi Wang. And once again Togami fought his way back into the match and into the decisive set. This time, however, it was Wang who had the happier ending.

Walther brings the turnaround despite injury

With his win against Togami, Wang equalized the score at 2:2. At the beginning of the match he lost to Simon Gauzy. Since Kozul also lost to Togami, the hosts already had their backs to the wall at the break. Ricardo Walther was supposed to start the turnaround against Alvaro Robles. But after the 2nd set Walther had to take an injury break. In the further course of the match, the German noticed that his movements were clearly limited. Nevertheless, Robles could not take the chance.

Since Wang equalized against Togami to 2:2, the doubles match had to decide about victory or defeat. And this was the hour of the Grünwettersbacher. Ricardo Walther and Deni Kozul did not even let Simon Gauzy and Alvaro Robles get into the match. In three clear sets they took the overall victory for ASV to the cheers of the spectators. While Grünwettersbach moved further into the middle of the table with this victory, it was a setback for Ochsenhausen. Ochsenhausen's head coach Fu Yong was correspondingly disappointed. "We had a good chance to win after our 2-0 lead. Alvaro wasn't in good shape today, he didn't find any rhythm in singles and doubles until the end."

It continues for both teams next weekend. ASV travels to the promoted team from Mainz on Sunday, Ochsenhausen to Grenzau on Monday.
