Season resumes on January 5, grand finale on April 11: TTBL releases second-half schedule
Table tennis fans can look forward to an exciting start to 2027: just two days after the Liebherr Pokal Final4, the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) will kick off the second half of the season. Matchday 12 of the 2026/27 season will take place on January 5 and 6. A total of 66 matches remain until the end of the regular season.
For two clubs, the start of the second half of the season will bring a quick rematch: TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell and SV Werder Bremen will first meet in the semifinals of the Liebherr Pokal Final4 on January 3, 2027. Just three days later, on January 6 at 6 p.m., they will face each other again in Fulda in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL). The other semifinal of the Liebherr Pokal Final4 will see Borussia Dortmund take on 1. FC Saarbrücken TT. Dortmund will begin the second half of the league season against TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt on January 5 at 6:30 p.m., while Saarbrücken will visit TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau on January 6 at 6:30 p.m.
The other three fixtures on Matchday 12 of the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) will see TSV Bad Königshofen face Post SV Mühlhausen (January 5, 6 p.m.), Borussia Düsseldorf take on TTC OE Clarity Telefonie-Systeme Bad Homburg (January 5, 7 p.m.), and TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen meet ASC Grünwettersbach (January 6, 7 p.m.).
Three matchdays in the first three weeks of the year
The first few weeks of the new year will get off to a busy start: Matchdays 12 to 14 will take place within just 13 days, from January 5 to 17, giving fans plenty of top-class table tennis to enjoy. Following a break of almost three weeks due to various international tournaments, including WTT Champions Asia and Europe Top 16, three more rounds will follow in quick succession, with Matchdays 15 to 17 scheduled between February 6 and 15.
Borussia Düsseldorf will leave its usual home venue twice to host league matches at alternative locations. On Matchday 14, the record champions will welcome TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell to the Castello Düsseldorf on Saturday, January 16, at 1 p.m. On Matchday 17, Düsseldorf will host 1. FC Saarbrücken TT at the Kampa-Halle in Minden on Sunday, February 14, at 2 p.m.
The 22nd and final matchday will take place as usual on April 11, with all six matches played simultaneously. Once all 132 regular-season matches have been completed, the final standings will be determined. The four highest-ranked teams will then compete in the Liebherr TTBL Final4 in early May, battling for the 2027 German Championship title.
Stehle: “We look forward to an exciting second half of the season featuring world-class table tennis”
“January will be a particularly busy period for our clubs and fans: first the Liebherr Pokal Final4, then the start of the second half of the league season just two days later, followed by three matchdays in less than two weeks,” says TTBL Managing Director Nico Stehle. “We look forward to an exciting second half of the season featuring world-class table tennis and, ultimately, the battle for the title.”
The fixture schedule was once again created in collaboration with Ligalytics. The company specializes in algorithm-based fixture scheduling in professional sports, combining the venue availability of all twelve clubs, the international tournament calendar and broadcast schedules into a single plan.
“A good fixture schedule is more than just a list of dates. It helps determine whether clubs can compete under fair conditions, whether fans can attend matches and whether the sport itself remains at the center of attention,” says Dirk Zechiel, founder of Ligalytics. “Striking exactly this balance is our goal for the TTBL.”
All Table Tennis Bundesliga matches are broadcast live on Dyn.
