Saarbrücken shines in home match against Fulda
For the 1. FC Saarbrücken-TT the goal Play-Off participation is clearly in focus. On the 16th matchday of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL), the next important step was taken with a victory against TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell.
The Hessians were already able to convince in the second round with newcomer Wong Chun Ting from Hong Kong, but could not confirm their performance against Saarbrücken.
The first match of the evening was played by Patrick Franziska from 1. FC Saarbrücken and Fan Bo Meng from TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell. After less than twelve minutes of play, Fan Bo Meng had to congratulate his national team colleague on his victory. The match went clearly 3:0 (11:3, 11:6, 11:4) to Franziska, who put 1.FC in the lead.
In the second match Cedric Nuytinck and Alexandre Cassin faced each other in the center court of the Joachim Deckarm Halle in Saarbrücken. The match and every single set were hard fought and both players gave their best. In the end, Nuytinck was able to record a 3:1 (11:9, 9:11, 13:11, 13:11) victory over the Frenchman Cassin.
Jorgic and Wong deliver "match of the evening
The third match of the evening between Darko Jorgic and Wong Chun Ting was hard to beat in terms of tension and drama. The newcomer from Fulda took the lead with 8:11 in the first set, before Jorgic tried to turn the tide in his favor with 11:5, 12:10. In the fourth set, however, Wong broke free and quickly took a 7:1 lead.
Jorgic, however, did not give up and fought his way back to 9:10 before Wong converted the set point. The fifth set developed into an intense exchange of blows, in which the 24-year-old Slovenian finally had the upper hand with 11:8.

In the end, Saarbrücken won clearly 3:0 and took another step towards the play-offs. TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell could find itself back in the relegation zone after this match day.
