Saarbrücken overruns Bad Königshofen

Attacking in the long-distance duel for the play-off places - that was the goal of TSV Bad Königshofen. However, on the 20th matchday in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL), it suffered a clear defeat against 1. FC Saarbrücken. In the end, no player reached his normal form.

It was not a high-class duel between TSV Bad Königshofen and 1. FC Saarbrücken in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL). Successfully it was at least for the Saarländer. The preliminary decision was made in the first singles match. Bastian Steger lost surprisingly and surprisingly clearly to the Japanese Takuya Jin. Jin knew how to take advantage of Steger's many easy mistakes. In all three sets Jin took a big lead. Steger came back in the first two sets, but could not steal a set.

Patrick Franziska then missed the start against Filip Zeljko. He was trailing 5:2, but then came back again. At 13:12 he even had a set point on his side, but Zeljko saved the set. After that, however, it was Franziska who increasingly took over the reins and took a 2-1 lead. Zeljko fought his way into the deciding set, but lost it with 9:11 and missed the chance to bring Bad Königshofen back into the match.

Darko Jorgic sets the final point

So it was up to Darko Jorgic to finish the match. Already the week before he and Kilian Ort met at the WTT Grand Smash. As in Singapore, Jorgic prevailed in three quick sets and gave Ort no chance. Ort was even trailing 0:6 in the third set before he managed to get back on his feet. But the comeback came too late. Jorgic finished the match with 7:11.

For Saarbruecken, the last mathematical doubts are buried. They will enter the play-off rounds again. For Bad Königshofen, on the other hand, the play-offs are a long way off. The 21st matchday will be continued on Tuesday. Saarbrücken will then host TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau, while Bad Königshofen travels to TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt.
