Revenge successful: Ochsenhausen beats Mainz
Can Akkuzu led the TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen to an overall victory on Matchday 12 of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) against the promoted 1. FSV Mainz with two individual victories. Ochsenhausen therefore took revenge for the defeat in the first leg. But both teams had to play without important regulars.
In the absence of Simon Gauzy, Shunsuke Togami and Kanak Jha, the Frenchman Can Akkuzu became the match winner in the Tischtennis Bundesliga (TTBL). First, he defeated the Italian Carlo Rossi safely in three rounds. Then he set the final point with a 3:1 success against Andrei Putuntica. Between the two matches was the match between Luka Mladenovic and Alvaro Robles. Robles gave away the first set, but won the next three in close succession.
Mainz without top player Yuto Muramatsu
At the beginning of the match Putuntica and Ochsenhausen's head coach Yong Fu faced each other. As expected, the 50-year-old had no realistic chance against the Moldovan. But it was not only Ochsenhausen that was short of players. On the Mainz side, the ill Yuto Muramatsu was missing. Without him, the promoted team was at a loss. Thus, they could not repeat the 3:2 victory of the first round. In his time, Muramatsu laid the foundation for the overall victory with two singles wins.
Borussia Düsseldorf will conclude Matchday 12 on Wednesday when it hosts SV Werder Bremen. The 13th matchday in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) continues on Thursday. Then the promoted team from Mainz travels to ASV Grünwettersbach. The other matches will take place on Friday and Sunday. All matches will be broadcast live on the Spontent channels on Twitch.
