No Retirement: Timo Boll plans for the 2048 Olympics

ARAG Group thanks exceptional athlete with a somewhat different outlook

German table tennis legend Timo Boll and insurer ARAG have enjoyed a close partnership for almost 20 years. Now the exceptional athlete has announced the end of his international career after the 2024 Summer Olympics. The Düsseldorf-based family business ARAG, main sponsor of the upcoming Liebherr TTBL Final 2024, is giving him a special farewell present: it filmed a mockumentary with him in which he throws himself - fit as ever - back into table tennis action in 2048.

"Timo Boll has been a well-known and extremely popular brand ambassador for ARAG for almost twenty years. At the end of his international career, we wanted to pay special tribute to him and our long-standing collaboration," emphasizes Dr. Renko Dirksen, CEO of ARAG SE. To this end, the Düsseldorf creative agency BUTTER. developed a mockumentary set in the year 2048. In it, a visibly aged Timo Boll remembers the year 2024 and his last Summer Games in Paris - his seventh participation in total. But what initially appears to be a typically epic hero's farewell bow surprisingly develops into an imminent comeback for the exceptional athlete. Timo Boll's future alter ego seems to want to give it another go at an advanced age.

The two-minute mockumentary can be viewed online on a dedicated landing page and via the social media channels of ARAG and Timo Boll.

The Düsseldorf-based family-owned company ARAG has been a sponsor of table tennis for over 20 years. ARAG is not only the personal sponsor of Timo Boll, but also of his club Borussia Düsseldorf and the German Table Tennis Association (DTTB). ARAG is also the main sponsor of the upcoming Liebherr TTBL Final 2024. Timo Boll is the most successful German table tennis player to date and has been one of the world's top players for over two decades. He announced the end of his international career at the end of May 2024. However, he will continue to play professionally for his club Borussia Düsseldorf for at least one more year.
