Quarter-finalists in cup fever: Eight teams want to reach the Final Four
Only one match separates the quarter-finalists in the German Table Tennis Cup from participating in the Final Four. The first title of the year will be awarded on January 4, 2025 in the Liebherr Cup Final Four. Tickets for the top event are available from €14.
Can TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell make it big this time? The club from Eastern Hesse made it to the cup final four times in a row between 2013 and 2016, but ultimately lost four times to Borussia Düsseldorf. In any case, this final trauma will not be repeated this season: Fulda and Düsseldorf already met in the round of 16, and the TTC catapulted itself into the position of favorite to win the cup with a 3:1 victory in September. The next hurdle for Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Co. on their way there is SV Werder Bremen: The Hanseatic team prevailed in the round of 16 at 1. FSV Mainz 05 (3:1) and will now play in Fulda on November 12. The winner of the match will advance to the semi-finals - and thus to the Liebherr Cup Final Four.
This season, the semi-finals and final will once again be held as a major Final Four event in which the four best teams will battle for the title on one day. The venue for the cup showdown is the ratiopharm arena Ulm/Neu-Ulm on January 4, 2025. If you want to be there and share in the excitement, you should take a look at our ticket store. Tickets for the Final Four are already available and cost €14 in the cheapest category.
Baden-Württemberg derby on October 29 in Grünwettersbach
Alongside Fulda, 1. FC Saarbrücken TT can also be counted among the hottest contenders for the title. FCS last won the cup in 2022, making them one of three former champions remaining in the competition. Last year, the Saarlanders lost to Düsseldorf in the final (0:3). Following the 3:2 labor victory over Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16, Saarbrücken will now face the last remaining second-division club: 1. FC Köln on November 15. The Bundesliga 2 leaders won the round of 16 3:2 against TTC Fortuna Passau. The winner of the match will face Fulda or Bremen in the semi-finals.
TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen have already won four trophies: From 2002 to 2004, the team led by Adrian Crisan and Chuang Chih-Yuan won three in a row, followed by another triumph in 2019. In the showdown on their doorstep - Ochsenhausen and Neu-Ulm are only around 50 kilometers apart - Ochsenhausen are now aiming for their fifth title. Hugo Calderano and Simon Gauzy were already involved in the triumph almost six years ago. The quarter-finals will see a Baden-Württemberg derby with ASC Grünwettersbach on October 29: The team from Baden lost 3:1 to Düsseldorf in the semi-finals in the previous season, but achieved a masterstroke in 2020 by winning the cup - incidentally in the final against Ochsenhausen (3:2).
Spa town duel in Bad Königshofen: Bad Homburg comes on November 9
The semi-final opponent of Grünwettersbach or Ochsenhausen will be determined on November 9th in the spa town duel: TSV Bad Königshofen will then welcome TTC OE Bad Homburg. The fact that the newly promoted team can pose a threat to last year's third-placed team in the German Table Tennis League was recently demonstrated in the TTBL: Bad Königshofen fought their way to a 3:2 win in the Taunus on match day 4 in mid-September. Bad Königshofen had beaten Post SV Mühlhausen 3:1 in the round of 16, while Bad Homburg booked their place in the last eight with a 3:2 win at TTC Lampertheim.
