Promoted Bad Homburg with first win of the season in Grenzau

Promoted Bad Homburg with first win of the season in Grenzau

On the second matchday of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL), TTC OE Bad Homburg 1987 traveled to Grenzau. After a promising start to the season against Saarbrücken, which Karlsson and his team narrowly lost in the final doubles, the newly promoted team put in a strong team performance and scored the first points of the season.

Both teams had zero points from the first matchday before the game. It was therefore clear that one team would pick up the first points of the season tonight.

First TTBL wins for Tsuboi and Andras

After an annoying defeat in the deciding set against Ionescu on the first match day, Tsuboi went into his second TTBL singles match against Feng. And this time, too, the Bad Homburg player made his match exciting: after trailing 1:2, Tsuboi was able to turn the match around, kept the upper hand in the fifth set and won his first TTBL singles match 2:3.

After a surprising win by Kubik against Karlsson - also in the deciding set - the score was 1:1 going into the break. Andras then drew level with Tsuboi and also won his first TTBL singles match. He won 1:3 against Walker and put TTC OE Bad Homburg 1:2 in the lead. One point was still missing.

Deciding set: For the third time that evening

Karlsson was now to win the decisive point against Feng. And he did just that. The Swede won 2:3 (9:11, 11:9, 11:9, 7:11, 9:11) and secured Bad Homburg's first TTBL win of the season.

With this cohesive team performance, in which each of the three players scored, TTC OE Bad Homburg is now in 5th place in the table with 2:2 points. TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau still has to wait for its first win of the season.
