Post SV Mühlhausen threatened with Champions League exit
The Thuringians suffered a severe setback without their newly signed top 10 aces from China.
Without Chinese power, table tennis Bundesliga club Post SV Mühlhausen are facing an early exit in the last 16 of the Champions League. After losing 3:1 in the first leg against KS Dzialdowo in front of their own fans, the Thuringians are under pressure in the second leg in Poland on Sunday (December 22). The team led by former champion Steffen Mengel was unable to field its two Chinese top-10 signings Liang Jingkun and Lin Gaoyuan due to scheduling problems.
In contrast to Mühlhausen, defending champions 1. FC Saarbrücken did not show any weaknesses. Patrick Franziska and Co. can already plan for the quarter-finals before the reunion at their own table (December 22) after their 3:0 win at Czech representative HB Ostrov.
German champions Borussia Düsseldorf also have a very good chance of advancing to the round of the best eight. The Rhinelanders returned from their trip to SKST Havirov in the Czech Republic last Friday with a 3:1 cushion for the second leg on Friday (19:00).
