Post SV Mühlhausen continues winning streak in TTBL

In the first match of the seventh matchday of the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL), Post SV Mühlhausen received ASV Grünwettersbach. After a sensational semi-final appearance in the Champions League, POST SV now wants to demonstrate strength at their league rivals.

In the opening match, Daniel Habesohn and Tiago Apolonia faced each other, two very experienced players. In the last encounter of the two in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) Habesohn left the table as the winner and also in this match the Austrian prevailed against the Portuguese with 11:8, 11:8, 6:11, 11:4.

It was much more exciting in the second match between defensive artist Wang Xi, in the service of the ASV, and the giant Steffen Mengel. Mengel took advantage of the 38-year-old's initial insecurity and started the match with an 11:7 before Wang Xi set the direct counter with a clear 2:11. After 11:6 and 10:12, the final decision was sought in the fifth set. After a better start for Mengel, he hit a forehand flip for the tenth point. Mengel used the first match point directly afterwards thanks to a missed backhand attack by Wang Xi. At the break, POST SV was leading 2:0.

Ionescu makes POST SV Mühlhausen fans cheer

Directly after the break Ovidiu Ionescu and Ricardo Walter met. Both players remained below their expectations with a 1:4 record so far. Right at the beginning, Ionescu dominated the match and allowed Walther only a meager two points in the first set. The second and third sets were closer. However, this did not change the result. In the end, the scoreboard showed a smooth 3:0 for Ionescu against Walther (11:2, 12:10, 11:9). The same result ended the match with 3:0. POST SV Mühlhausen thus confirmed its strong performance from the Champions League. For ASV Grünwettersbach, it is now a matter of doing homework in order not to lose touch with the midfield in the 8th matchday against TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen.
