Pokal Grand Opening: New format brings all the stars to Nuremberg at the end of August | Tickets now on sale
All table tennis fans now have a top event to look forward to: with the Pokal Grand Opening, the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) is launching a new format in which the participants for the Liebherr Pokal Final4 will be decided for the first time in the 2026/27 season. The venue on 29 and 30 August 2026 is the Kia Metropol Arena in Nuremberg. Tickets are available now.
At the Grand Opening Cup in Nuremberg’s Kia Metropol Arena, everything is at stake for the teams right from the start of the season: the round of 16 of the German Table Tennis Cup will be played on Saturday, 29 August, in two parallel sessions across four tables. The eight winning clubs will then compete again on Sunday 30 August, battling it out in two sessions across two tables in the quarter-finals for a place in the Liebherr Cup Final4. Taking part are the twelve teams from the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) as well as the four teams that qualified from the cup preliminary round.

The Kia Metropol Arena in Nuremberg provides the perfect stage for this. As the knockout system determines who progresses to the Liebherr Cup Final4 from the very first minute, maximum sporting drama is guaranteed.”
