On Tuesday evening: Fulda wants a fresh start against Bremen
The German Table Tennis League (TTBL) is going from strength to strength: The second matchday begins on Tuesday, with TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell hosting SV Werder Bremen at 7 p.m. and aiming to make amends for their botched start to the season.
Wipe your mouth, move on - that was the motto at TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell yesterday, Sunday. The team from Eastern Hesse had lost their season opener at ASV Grünwettersbach on Saturday evening, winning just two sets in the 3-0 defeat. "We have to put that game behind us quickly and get off to a fresh start against Bremen," demanded Ruwen Filus directly after the match.
The next match is already scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday (7 p.m./live on Dyn), and the first home game of the season should be the first victory. In terms of personnel, however, the situation is unlikely to have improved: Wong Chun Ting is missing due to preparations for the Asian Games, while new signing Thibault Poret has recently been sidelined due to a ligament injury, meaning that coach Qing Yu Meng had to step into the box in Grünwettersbach.
"A strong start": Bremen arrive with a tailwind
Werder, on the other hand, travel to Eastern Hesse with a tailwind: The Hanseatic side had opened the season on Friday evening, celebrating a 3-0 win against 1. FSV Mainz 05. Mattias Falck, Marcelo Aguirre and Kirill Gerassimenko conceded just two sets to ensure a successful start. "We've made a strong start to the season," said doubles world champion Falck afterwards - now we're aiming for win number two in Fulda.
The second matchday will then continue on Friday, when 1. FC Saarbrücken TT will host ASV Grünwettersbach from 7pm. All matches will be broadcast live and exclusively on Dyn.
