Ochsenhausen wins clearly against weary Grenzauer
The TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen are still on course for the play-offs. With 3:0 they defeated TTC Grenzau on Monday evening at the end of the 9th matchday in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL).
In the end, it was an unspectacular back stroke error with which Patrick Baum lost his match against Can Akkuzu in the Tischtennis Bundesliga (TTBL). It was at the same time the decision for the clear 3:0 victory of TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen against TTC Grenzau.
From the beginning, Grenzau did not give the impression of being able to seriously threaten the favorites from Ochsenhausen. The biggest hope lays on Patrick Baum in the match against the Frenchman Can Akkuzu. Baum narrowly lost the first set after failing to capitalize on his own set point. In the second set he did better and equalized. When he managed to turn around a 2:6 deficit in the all-important third set, it looked as if he would dominate the match from then on. But Baum could not carry the momentum. Akkuzu did not make the mistake of letting a high lead slip away a second time.
Exhausted Kubik and Feng without a chance
Earlier, Maciej Kubik had lost to his training partner Samuel Kulczycki and Feng Yi-Hsin to Japan's Shunsuke Togami. Kubik led 7:5 at the beginning of the match in the first set, then changed his serve and lost the set 8:11. Although he still managed to equalize the set, Kulczycki finally prevailed with two clear set wins. Feng's performance against the merciless Togami was powerless. Feng and Kubik had just returned from the World Youth Championships in Tunis.
Accordingly, Grenzau coach Slobodan Grujic acknowledged the victory of the guests without envy. "We had hoped for more today, but the guests were simply stronger and deserved to win. Especially our two young players came from Tunis and were a bit tired. But overall, Ochsenhausen was just much better."
It continues with the 10th matchday in the Tischtennis Bundesliga (TTBL) already next weekend.
