Ochsenhausen wins 3:0 and leaves Neu-Ulm no chance
On the 19th matchday of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL), TTC Neu-Ulm and TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen met. The guests had to do without Simon Gauzy and nevertheless won convincingly with 3:0.
After TTC Neu-Ulm did not apply for a license for the next season, it was clear that this was the last but one match for the hosts in front of their home crowd. However, Ochsenhausen was also able to enjoy the presence of their fans. After all, it was about two important points for the guests to secure their 3rd place in the table.
Neu-Ulm without a set win in the first two singles matches
In the first match of the day, Maksim Grebnev and Alvaro Robles faced each other. The Spaniard did not allow any resistance and defeated the Neu-Ulm player 3:0 (11:8, 11:6, 11:6). The hosts did not come close to their usual performance in the next match either, allowing Akkuzu to win 3:0 (11:8, 11:7, 11:4) against Sidorenko. "The situation is not easy for the guys, there is no question about that. But still it was too little especially in the first two singles. We have to look together that we perform differently in the remaining three matches than we did today," coach Dima Mazunov said after the match.
Kulczycki makes up for lost against Katsman
In the third and last singles match of the day Kulczycki and Katsman stood at the table. After the Neu-Ulm player started better into the match and took a 2:0 lead, it looked like the spectators could still look forward to the match of the two 1s. But when the third set went clearly to Kulczycki with 11:2 and he could also snatch the fourth set, the momentum in the deciding set was on his side and he won 3:2 (9:11, 5:11, 11:2, 13:11, 11:7).
After only 78 minutes, the winner was Ochsenhausen, who thus secured their place in the table at position 3. Akkuzu after the game: "We now have three games ahead of us, none of which will be easy. We still have to play Bremen, Mühlhausen and Saarbrücken. After the Singapore Smash, the full focus is on these three games."
