Ochsenhausen still on track for success
Second match, second win: At the end of the 2nd match day in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL), TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen defeated TSV Bad Königshofen 3:1 in their own hall. The guests, on the other hand, are still waiting for their first points in the still young season.
Kanak Jha was the match-winner for Ochsenhausen. The US American prevailed in two contested matches with 3:2 (12:10, 8:11, 6:11, 11:7, 11:6) against Filip Zeljko as well as in the last singles match of the evening also in five sets (14:12, 11:6, 7:11, 4:11, 13:11) against the German singles champion of 2011 and 2012, Bastian Steger. "I am very happy, but also a bit tired," said the 22-year-old. "They were very close matches today. Bad Königshofen has a strong team. In both fifth sets I played good table tennis and was also very strong in the head."
"We did a really good job today".
After Steger's intermediate equalizer against Can Akkuzu, Alvaro Robles had put the hosts in front again thanks to a clear 3-0 (11:6, 11:9, 11:9) against Kilian Ort. "We did a good job today against a tough opponent," said the 31-year-old Spaniard. "I am very happy with the team's performance. The victory feels really good."
After the match, Bad Königshofen's Bastian Steger was mainly concerned with the outcome of the fifth set against Kanak Jha. "That was really a very, very tough match today. But if you don't bring the close games home, you just leave the hall as a loser."
