Ochsenhausen still on playoff course
On the seventh match day, SV Werder Bremen received the table neighbor from Ochsenhausen in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL). Both teams are close to each other in the table with four wins and two losses each - an exciting match was inevitable. Shortly before, Post SV Mühlhausen won against ASV Grünwettersbach with 3:0.
The first match of the evening between Kirill Gerassimenko and Can Akkuzu went the full distance - with the better end for the man from SV Werder Bremen. He beat Akkuzu in five sets (3:11, 12:10, 14:12, 3:11, 11:8).
The US-American Kanak Jha equalized the match with his 3:1 victory over Christian Platea (7:11, 6:11, 11:5, 9:11). For Jha it was the fifth win in the fifth match in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL).
The renewed lead for SV Werder Bremen was given by Matthias Falck with a 3:1 victory over Simon Gauzy (13:11, 8:11, 11:7, 13:11).
Kanak Jha shines with two single wins
Kanak Jha equalized the match with a clear 3:0 win over Kirill Gerassimenko. The 22-year-old thus remains unbeaten in the TTBL.
In the all-important final doubles match, both teams decided to field a new player. For SV Werder Bremen, Marcelo Aguirre entered the table together with Matthias Falck. For the TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen, Simon Gauzy Alvaro Robles were to do the job. The two players from Ochenhausen got off to the better start and quickly took a 2:0 lead. Falck / Aguirre made the crowd sit up and take the third set. In the fourth set, however, it was Gauzy and Robles who raised their hands in the air after converting the match point (8:11, 9:11, 11:6, 3:11).
Matchwinner Kanak Jha summed up the match as follows: "It wasn't easy, but the doubles at the end was very strong from us and we are very happy and go home with this win." On the SV Werder Bremen side, Matthias Falck commented on the result as follows: "It was a tough match against Ochsenhausen today. We fought strongly, but in the end Ochsenhausen was able to secure two points."
