Ochsenhausen also beats Grenzau clearly in the TTBL
TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen also won their second match against TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau within a few days. After the 3-0 win in the cup quarter-finals, the result was the same on match day 8 of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL).
After two previous defeats in the German Table Tennis League, TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen returned to winning ways in the TTBL against TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau. Hayate Suzuki's debut on Friday evening resulted in the fourth win of the season with a 3-0 victory. Ochsenhausen now has 8:8 points and has climbed to fifth place in the table for the time being. Grenzau has 6:10 points and drops back to eighth place behind TSV Bad Königshofen.
The two teams had only met in the quarter-finals of the German Table Tennis Cup last Monday. The TTF ultimately prevailed in the Westerwald and secured their ticket to the Liebherr Cup Final Four, which will be held in the ratiopharm arena Ulm/Neu-Ulm on January 7, 2024, with a 3-0 win. "After winning the cup, we had resolved to be just as focused in the league game - we're very happy that we managed to do that. After two previous defeats, this win is very important for us," said Ochsenhausen's Simon Gauzy.
Hayate Suzuki celebrates victory in TTBL debut
After Ochsenhausen had already won on Monday without losing a set, the home side remained unchallenged on Friday. Borderaus Xavier Dixon, who once again played Hugo Calderano, was allowed to hope for a short time with a 5:1 lead, but in the end the world number five won 3:0 (11:8, 11:0, 12:10). Simon Gauzy then made it no less clear with his 3:0 (11:6, 11:8, 11:8) against Maciej Kubik. The decisive victory was finally reserved for a debutant: Hayate Suzuki ensured another smooth TTF victory with a 3:0 (11:5, 11:3, 12:10) against Samuel Walker.
Matchday 8 opened on Thursday with a 3:2 win for Borussia Düsseldorf against ASV Grünwettersbach. The other matches are between Post SV Mühlhausen and SV Werder Bremen (Sunday, 4 p.m.) and TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell and 1. FC Saarbrücken TT (Monday, 7 p.m.).
