New sports channel: Dyn launches live operation on August 23
The construction of Dyn is progressing with great strides: The new sports channel, which will also broadcast the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) from the 2023/24 season, will start live operations on August 23, 2023. The costs are also known in the meantime.
The team led by Christian Seifert, Andreas Heyden and Marcel Wontorra is currently working flat out to prepare for broadcasting operations and a new form of partnership with the participating national leagues, associations and fans. With handball, basketball, volleyball, table tennis and field hockey, Dyn Media has a diverse rights portfolio that also includes all matches of the Tischtennis Bundesliga (TTBL). On August 23, Dyn will officially launch the Pixum Super Cup 2023, in which the German handball champion will meet the DHB Cup winner.
Simple, transparent and fair subscription model
"In terms of pricing, we are relying on a simple, transparent and fair model: customers can choose between a monthly cancelable subscription and a discounted annual subscription. An annual subscription with a minimum term of 12 months will cost 12.50 euros per month, while a monthly cancellable subscription will cost 14.50 euros", Dyn Media CEO Andreas Heyden explained on Wednesday. The Dyn subscription includes access to all live matches, highlights and editorial formats of all leagues and will be offered on the website www.dyn.sport from summer. An advertising campaign will start in July.
"Move Your Sport" award for promotion of young talent.
"Dyn will be more than a sports channel," said Dyn Media founder and shareholder Christian Seifert. "At the heart of our concept is a partnership with sports and for sports. By providing more free-to-air content than ever before, we significantly increase the visibility of leagues and competitions. Through the agreed revenues from media rights, more reach for the leagues, clubs and their sponsors, we also support sustainable structural growth in sports through our Move Your Sport concept."
Under the Move Your Sport claim, fans are asked when they take out a subscription which of the Dyn sports they particularly want to support. Ten percent of the net subscription price is then donated directly to the relevant league at no extra cost to the fan. This does not increase the subscription price. The leagues undertake to invest the additional funds provided by Dyn in individual concepts for promoting young talent, so that the respective sport is also strengthened in the long term.
Partnership with sports and for sports
Another building block of the new concept will be the Dyn Media Network. Partner federations, leagues, clubs and media partners will receive extensive editorial material such as highlight video clips and accompanying interviews for distribution through their own channels via the Dyn Content Desk, a cloud-based system for uploading and retrieving editorial content. "Partners in our Dyn Media Network will have the opportunity to distribute more moving image content than ever before through their own channels. This also allows trade and regional media to benefit from the appeal of our sports with match footage, while further increasing their media presence," said Chief Operating Officer (COO) Marcel Wontorra.
Reception via smart TV, PC and mobile devices.
Dyn's programming will be receivable via Internet-enabled TVs, PCs, laptops, tablets and smartphones.
Dyn shows these competitions
The channel owned by Christian Seifert and Axel Springer SE was able to secure broadcasting rights for numerous national and international competitions in the sports of table tennis, volleyball, basketball, handball and field hockey within a year. Most recently, European handball has also been added through an agreement with DAZN: Dyn will show the matches of the EHF Champions League and the EHF European League (women and men) with German participation. In addition, Dyn plans to broadcast selected top matches of international top clubs as well as the final tournaments of the EHF club competitions as lighthouse events of the year.
As things stand today, Dyn will broadcast the following competitions via live streaming and provide editorial coverage of highlights:
