Neu-Ulm wins last home match in the TTBL against Werder Bremen
TTC Neu-Ulm played SV Werder Bremen in the early match of the 21st matchday and won its last home match in the TTBL with 3:1.
After SV Werder Bremen had previously lost three matches in a row and on this matchday had to do without Mattias Falck, who was still playing doubles with Kristian Karlsson in Singapore on Wednesday, the goal for Neu-Ulm was clear: they wanted to undo the clear 0:3 defeat against Ochsenhausen and successfully play the last match in front of their home crowd.
Vladimir Sidorenko made the start against Cristian Pletea and it looked good for the Neu-Ulm player right away. After the two had already met in the preliminary round, with Sidorenko winning narrowly in the 5th set, he was now able to determine the match even more confidently and took the first point for his club with 3:1 (11:4, 13:11, 9:11, 11:7). In the second match between Maksim Grebnev and Kirill Gerassimenko it went into the deciding set, in which the young Russian kept the upper hand and brought the Neu-Ulm team into a 2:0 lead (11:8, 7:11, 6:11, 11:7, 11:7). The following duel of the two 3s was won by Marcelo Aguirre narrowly in the fifth set (5:11, 11:5, 8:11, 11:9, 9:11). Lev Katsman thus lost six of his eight five-set matches from this season.
Close sets in top match
In the last match of the day Vladimir Sidorenko managed to make up for his defeat against Kirill Gerassimenko in the previous round. After he had to admit defeat in the first set with 12:14, he could win the following three sets each with a 2-point lead with 11:9. Thus, the 3:1 success for TTC Neu-Ulm was perfect.
