Neu-Ulm comes out of the World Cup break with momentum

TTC Neu-Ulm is firmly established in the top group of the German Table Tennis League. Maksim Grebnev, Vladimir Sidorenko and Lev Katsman scored a 3:0 away win at TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt on Matchday 5.

The guests traveled to Bergneustadt without the really big names in the starting lineup, but knew how to convince even so. Only Lev Katsman had to go the full distance of five sets in the third singles match of the day and even had to fend off two match points from Romain Ruiz. In the end, however, Katsman made use of his third match point and made the away victory of TTC Neu-Ulm perfect. Before that, Maksim Grebnev had won against Benedikt Duda and Vladimir Sidorenko against Omar Assar with 3:1.

Disappointment in Bergneustadt

Benedikt Duda, who still had to congratulate Darko Jorgic after seven sets in the semifinals of the WTT tournament in Slovenia on Saturday evening, did not want to let tiredness and heavy legs count for the defeat today. "The result is of course disappointing. We had expected something, because Neu-Ulm started without Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Truls Moregardh. But in the end we were not at 100 percent and Neu-Ulm was fully there and deserved to win. The 0:3 defeat goes so in order."
On the other hand, Lev Katsman was of course satisfied all around with the way the game went. "I am happy that we won today. It was a tough match. I had ups and downs in my singles and fought my way back in the fifth set. In the end it was a really good team performance."

Top match in Neu-Ulm

TTC Neu-Ulm awaits record champion Borussia Düsseldorf in the top match of matchday 6 in the TTBL on Sunday, November 13. TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt travels to ASV Grünwettersbach one day later.
