Mühlhausen qualified for play-offs after win against Ochsenhausen

In the direct encounter of the two table neighbors of the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL), POST SV Mühlhausen could win against TTC Liebherr Ochsenhausen in front of their home crowd. For POST SV this victory means the direct play-off qualification. The table tennis friends from Ochsenhausen succeeded in qualifying already one matchday before.

The opening singles between Irvin Bertrand (POST SV) and Samuel Kulczycki (TTF) turned out to be one-sided. Bertrand played aggressively from the beginning and hardly gave Kulczycki a chance to get into the match. Bertrand won against the 21-year-old Pole in three sets (11:7, 11:4, 11:9).

In the duel of the two youngsters Kim Taehyun (19 years) and Shunsuke Togami (21 years), Togami could equalize the match. He won all three sets with 11:8.

Directly after the break, the two veterans Ionescu and Robles faced each other in the Post Hall, which was filled with almost 450 spectators. Robles won the first set 12:10, but Ionescu stayed on the ball.
He secured the following three sets with 11:9, 11:6 and 11:8 and thus the second point of the evening for Post SV Mühlhausen.

Double strike by Togami - in the end the hosts cheer

In the fourth match of the two players seeded at position 1, Bertrand faced Togami. Togami delivered a strong performance "in the witch's cauldron of Mulhouse" right from the start. Only in the third set could the Frenchman keep up. Togami finally won 3:1 and gave Ochsenhausen the equalizer again, which forced the hosts into the final doubles match.

There Ionescu and Taehyun met Robles and Kulczycki. The doubles match turned into a real thriller and finally ended in the fourth set with 12:10 in favor of Mühlhausen. After the match point was converted, the fans cheered loudly for the second play-off spot in the club's history.

Manuel Pfender (Team Manager TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen): "Congratulations to Mühlhausen. It was a great match, a real up and down with great rallies and a lot of emotions - a match which really didn't deserve a loser. We go home now with one laughing and one crying eye."

Thomas Baier (President SV Post Mühlhausen): "I am overwhelmed. At the beginning of the season, no one would have believed that we could repeat the surprise success from last year. For the club, this is the greatest success in its 70-year history."
