Meeting of the team sports leagues: Successful exchange around the motto "Strong together".
Premiere for the team sports leagues: Challenging times are known to require strength, energy and stamina to get through. But exciting and close ties can also be forged. This is what happened among some team sports leagues in Germany.
While there was occasional exchange among a wide variety of leagues, it intensified with the onset of the Corona crisis in the spring of 2020. Those responsible for the BBL2 - Christian Krings, VBL - Julia Retzlaff, TTBL - Nico Stehle, HBF - Christoph Wendt, DEL2 - René Rudorisch, DFB - Jens Futterknecht, DBBL - Philipp Reuner, initially met virtually every two weeks, later monthly, to coordinate on the current challenges of the professional leagues and to support each other. In the course of the current year, the Hockey Bundesliga and Victor vom Kolke joined the group.
After three years now, the parties involved decided to meet in person this summer. Although the schedules of soccer and field hockey were not compatible this time, a constructive five-hour meeting took place at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, where many current topics of the leagues were discussed and exchanged. Thankfully, the participants were given the opportunity to visit the DFB Campus afterwards.
All in all, it was a very successful meeting at which many topics relating to the leagues' day-to-day business were discussed and addressed. Those responsible agree that even beyond the Corona topics, further coordination and cooperation on overarching issues makes sense. The importance of close networking between the team sports leagues was clearly emphasized and the joint exchange and mutual support should be continued in the future. Especially in the area of league development, those responsible want to exchange ideas and help each other.
The meeting in Frankfurt was an important step to continue the dialogue and mutual help and to advance the German team sports as a whole. The Corona pandemic may have posed special challenges for the sport, but it has also led to a stronger community and cooperation between the team sports leagues. The press officers of the different leagues have also joined forces and network at regular intervals.
