Matchday 3: Who will remain unbeaten?
The second matchday of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) ended on Monday with the match between Post SV Mühlhausen and TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen. Currently, with 1. FC Saarbrücken-TT, Werder Bremen, Borussia Düsseldorf and Post SV Mühlhausen, four teams are still unbeaten. It won't stay that way, however, as Borussia welcomes Bremen on Wednesday at 7 pm.
Borussia Düsseldorf - Werder Bremen
Both teams look back on a 3-0 win on the second matchday: Düsseldorf was successful in its guest match in Grenzau, the Bremen team won away against TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell. The latter had fielded Marcelo Aguirre, Mattias Falck and Kirill Gerassimenko. While Falck fulfilled his duty with a 3:0 win against Qing Yu Meng, Aguirre overcame a 2:0 deficit against Fan Bo Meng brilliantly, Gerassimenko had to bring home his own 2:0 lead in five sets. Meanwhile, Düsseldorf had fewer sets to play: Dang Qiu and Timo Boll won 3-0, Kay Stumper opened with a 3-1 win over Maciej Kubik. The team welcomes Bremen at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt - TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau
TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt will pick up the racket for only the second time this season on Wednesday. The North Rhine-Westphalians are aiming for a win against TTC Zugbrücke from Grenzau, after all the team had to lose its opening match against Saarbrücken 0:3. Grenzau also had only a short breather. Only on Sunday one had lost 0:3 against Duesseldorf. So the desire for a win lies on both teams. Nevertheless, the Grenzau team can approach the match a little more relaxed, as they had won against Bad Königshofen on the first matchday.
Post SV Mühlhausen - TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell
Post SV Mühlhausen is also going from strength to strength at the moment. Only on Monday, the team won 3:1 against TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen. The performance of the Mühlhausen team was a brilliant work victory, three of the four games went over five sets. The Fulda team, on the other hand, had a whole week to recover from the defeat against Düsseldorf. The match, like the previous two games, starts at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
TSV Bad Königshofen - 1. FC Saarbrücken-TT
TSV from Bad Königshofen has a heart-stopping eighth-final behind it. In the cup, the team around Filip Zeljko, Martin Allegro and Bastian Steger won 3:2 against TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt. The euphoria about the victory should now be taken into the TTBL match against Saarbrücken. The latter's team, meanwhile, had ensured a clear surprise victory in Grünwettersbach. The team was missing both Patrick Franziska, Darko Jorgic, Cedric Nuytinck and Yuto Muramatsu, yet the team of Eduard Ionescu, Abdullah Talha Yigenler and Cedric Meissner was successful with 3:0 and without dropping a set. The match between Bad Königshofen and Saarbrücken on Thursday at 7 p.m. therefore promises to be exciting.
TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen - 1. FSV Mainz 05
At the same time, the teams from Ochsenhausen and Mainz will play. Ochsenhausen is coming off a loss to Mühlhausen on Monday, while Mainz has had to recover from a 3-0 defeat to Bad Königshofen on Saturday. Both teams are in desperate need of a win, having gone winless so far this season. This will change on Thursday, when the team around Ovidiu Ionescu and Co. will receive the Mainz team.
