Matchday 21: Mühlhausen wants to clinch everything against Ochsenhausen

Matchday 21: Mühlhausen wants to clinch everything against Ochsenhausen

Only one step separates Post SV Mühlhausen in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) from making the play-offs again. On Tuesday against TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen, the fourth-placed team in the table wants to take this step as well. Already on Saturday it comes to the cellar duel between the 1. FSV Mainz 05 and the TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell. On Thursday, Borussia Düsseldorf will take on ASV Grünwettersbach.

1. FSV Mainz 05 – TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell

The basement duel of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) will take place tomorrow, Saturday, at 1. FSV Mainz 05, which will receive TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell at 2 pm. Despite the situation in the standings - twelfth meets eleventh - there is not too much at stake for both teams, as they have already secured their place in the league. On the home stretch, they now want to end the season with as many successes as possible. The Mainz team, which has won three of its last five matches, proved in the first leg that this can also be achieved against Fulda: in mid-December, they were only defeated in doubles in East Hesse. Should Mainz win the return match, the Rheinhessen team would even have a chance of finishing eleventh on the last matchday. They are currently four points behind the TTC (14:26) with 10:30 points. On the last matchday, Mainz will play Bergneustadt, while Fulda will face Düsseldorf.

Post SV Mühlhausen – TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen

The anniversary of the promotion to the TTBL is now three weeks ago for Post SV Mühlhausen, with minimal delay the team of coach Erik Schreyer could now give itself a present on Tuesday. Even a narrow defeat against TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen would be enough to reach the play-offs for the second time in a row and also for the second time in the club's history. Mühlhausen's goal, however, should be a win against its league rival, and then on the last matchday even a jump to third place is possible, through which Post SV would probably - at least according to the current standings - meet Saarbrücken instead of Düsseldorf in the semifinals. Ochsenhausen, on the other hand, would still have the jump to second place in their own hands in the event of their 14th win of the season. On the final matchday, the Swabians will face second-placed Saarbrücken, while Mühlhausen will take on Bad Königshofen.

ASV Grünwettersbach – Borussia Düsseldorf

ASV Grünwettersbach can still hope for the play-offs. But even if the second semi-final appearance in the club's history doesn't work out - which could already be certain on Tuesday after the Mühlhausen game against Ochsenhausen - those responsible can look back on a successful season. The team has finally worked its way out of the relegation battle and into reach of the top four, thanks in part to three wins from the last four games. Borussia Düsseldorf, meanwhile, has the chance to finally clinch first place in the table - in the play-offs, the record champions would then have to face Ochsenhausen or Mühlhausen. Before the duel with Grünwettersbach, Borussia still has a chance to win the title: this Friday and next Monday, the team will face 1. FC Saarbrücken TT in the final of the Champions League (TTCLM).
