Matchday 13: Mainz still without a win against Grünwettersbach

The 1st FSV Mainz 05 and the ASV Grünwettersbach have already met twice this season, each time the match ended in favor of the ASV. The third encounter on the 13th matchday of the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) has now again been decided in favor of the Baden-Württemberger.

The guests from Mainz did not have much time to relax and recharge their batteries. Only on Tuesday, the promoted team had to put away a 1:3 defeat against Ochsenhausen. Now the team has traveled to Grünwettersbach - without top player Yuto Muramatsu, who was absent due to injury. Muramatsu had been the point-maker for Mainz in each of the teams' two encounters, both of which had gone 2:3 for Grünwettersbach. Now the match went 3-0 in favor of ASV.

Putuntica flashes hope

The match started with Xi Wang and Carlo Rossi. Wang clearly defeated his opponent 3:0 for a 1:0 lead for Grünwettersbach. In the second match between Tiago Apolonia and Andrei Putuntica, it also looked as if the Grünwettersbach team could quickly extend their lead until Putuntica, trailing 2-0 in the third set, came back strongly and won it 11-6. Apolonia then came back in the fourth set and clinched the match with an 11-6 win. Ricardo Walther then defeated his opponent Luka Mladenovic 3-0.

On Friday, it continues directly with the 13th matchday in the TTBL. Then Post SV Mühlhausen will meet TTC Neu-Ulm, TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen will play against TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau. TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell receives SV Werder Bremen and 1. FC Saarbrücken-TT welcomes TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt.
