Matchday 12: Second leg kicks off with three games on Friday and Saturday

Before the Final Four in the German Table Tennis Cup is scheduled for Sunday, the starting signal is given for the 12th match day in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) and thus the second round. On Friday, ASV Grünwettersbach will host Post SV Mühlhausen, and on Saturday, TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt will face TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau and TSV Bad Königshofen will take on TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell.

ASV Grünwettersbach - Post SV Mühlhausen

ASV Grünwettersbach is looking for revenge: The Baden team lost 3-0 at Post SV Mühlhausen in the first round of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) and naturally wants to do better this time, on Friday evening at the Tischtennis-Zentrum at home. Whether that succeeds, might depend substantially on the personnel situation. In the last games 2022 with Wang Xi and Tiago Apolonia equal two high performers due to injury were precipitated, defeats against Fulda and in Saarbruecken were the result. As a result, the situation in the standings is quite tricky: Although ASV is only two points behind the top four with 10:12 points, it is also only four points ahead of the relegation places. Mühlhausen, on the other hand, is looking up. Although coach Erik Schreyer's team lost 3-2 to Bad Königshofen before the Christmas break, it had previously won four games in a row and, in fifth place (12-10), can dream of a return to the play-offs.

TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt - TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau

TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt is facing perhaps the most important match of the season: if Benedikt Duda and Co. win the duel with TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau, they would distance themselves from their rivals for the time being and can approach the rest of the second half of the season with fresh self-confidence. Otherwise, however, eleventh place and acute relegation worries would be the result. Currently, both Bergneustadt and Grenzau have 6:16 points on their account and are thus in the middle of the fight to stay in the league. The first leg went 3-0 to Bergneustadt thanks to wins by Duda, Romain Ruiz and Omar Assar. Before the reunion on Saturday, Grenzau manager Markus Ströher now says: "We know that we can do better. We hope that we can improve even more in terms of performance and give Bergneustadt a tough fight. And maybe this time we will be rewarded for it."

TSV Bad Königshofen - TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell

Derby time at TSV Bad Königshofen: On Saturday, TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell is the guest of the Lower Franconian-East Hessian duel and wants to take revenge for the bitter defeat in the first leg. At the beginning of December, Ruwen Filus already had the victory for Fulda on the racket, but missed his three match points against Bastian Steger, and in the end a 3:2 victory for Bad Königshofen stood. Due to this and other close defeats, the East Hessians are stuck in the bottom half of the table. With 8:14 points, Fulda is only just outside the relegation zone, and before the Christmas break there was an important 3:2 in the basement duel against Mainz. Bad Königshofen is four points better (12:10) and has its sights set on the play-off places. At the end of the first half of the season, Bad Königshofen won 3:2 in Mühlhausen - also after trailing for a while.
