Matchday 12: Ochsenhausen overcomes Mühlhausen

Matchday 12: Ochsenhausen overcomes Mühlhausen

It was not enough for the TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen team to win the cup last Sunday in nearby Neu-Ulm; the trophy went to Borussia Düsseldorf. Now the team welcomed the Post SV Mühlhausen team and achieved a home victory of superlatives.

The game marked the start of 2024 for the visitors from Mühlhausen, who had last won 3:1 against TSV Bad Königshofen on 21 December and spent the festive period with a 12:8 record. Ochsenhausen - who had previously had an even record of 10:10 points - had some time to catch their breath before Sunday's final appearance. The team led by Simon Gauzy, Alvaro Robles and Hayate Suzuki had won their last match 3:0 against Fulda on 16 December.

Gauzy and Kulczycki get off to a strong start

The home team got off to a dream start in the clash between the two "Hauseners": Simon Gauzy first won 3:0 against Daniel Habesohn, followed by Samuel Kulczycki's victory against Steffen Mengel. After taking an interim 2:0 lead, Kulczycki had to concede another set to Mengel, but brought the fourth set to a close with an 11:7 win.

20:18 in the third set

Alvaro Robles and Ovidiu Ionescu then produced the most exciting match of the evening. The match turned into a game of superlatives in the third set, when Robles came back from 0:2 down to win 20:18 and pave the way for a comeback to 2:2. However, the Ochsenhausen player ultimately had to concede defeat to Ionescu 4:11 in the final set. However, the home team did not let this defeat upset them and Simon Gauzy brought home the last necessary points with a 3:0 win against Steffen Mengel.

With this victory, Ochsenhausen is now in third place in the league. The 12th matchday in the German Table Tennis League ends on Saturday with the game between 1. FSV Mainz 05 and 1. FC Saarbrücken-TT.
