Mainz wins clearly against Fulda in TTBL basement duel

It was already clear to TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell when they looked at their lineup that it would not be easy: The Hessians were again shorthanded, and Ruwen Filus had to give up his singles match without a fight. In the match against the promoted 1. FSV Mainz 05, there was nothing more to be gained: Mainz won the basement duel of the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) clearly with 3:0.

Mainz had also had to do without the experience of Luka Mladenovic in the match, who was currently the highest-scoring player in the Mainz team with 19 appearances. Now Andrei Putuntica has drawn level, putting the finishing touches to a game that was clearly going the home team's way in the match against Fulda.

The match got off to the worst possible start from Fulda's point of view: Ruwen Filus had to give up his opening match against Yuto Muramatsu 3:0 without a fight due to injury. Carlo Rossi then won 3-0 against Chun Ting Wong, allowing eight, nine and seven points respectively. And finally it was Putuntica who won 3-0 against Qing Yu Meng to end a short TTBL day.

Situation in the standings unchanged for the time being

The current bottom team from Mainz is thus following up on the two victories from the penultimate match days, which are now already somewhat behind them. After a 3:0 defeat against Düsseldorf, they had won 3:0 against Post SV Mühlhausen, then 3:1 against TSV Bad Königshofen. Two weeks ago, a defeat against Grenzau was still on the books. So far, however, the balance is not enough to pass the current opponents from Fulda. Mainz stands with a balance of 12:30, Fulda has a points balance of 14:28 on the counter.

The 21st matchday in the table tennis Bundesliga is not over yet. On Tuesday, TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen will meet Mühlhausen, Grünwettersbach will receive Borussia from Düsseldorf on Thursday.
