Mainz defeats Königshofen

1.FSV Mainz 05 celebrates its second victory in a row in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL). In their own hall, the promoted team defeated TSV Bad Königshofen 3:1 on match day 19. For the guests, this was a bitter setback in the fight for the play-off places.

On the previous matchday, Post SV Mühlhausen, a play-off candidate, was defeated in Mainz. Now Bad Königshofen was the next to be defeated. Matchwinner for the hosts was once again Yuto Muramatsu. The Japanese player did not give up a set against Martin Allegro as well as against Bastian Steger. The third point for the Mainz team was scored by Andrei Putuntica, who turned a 0:2 set deficit plus three match points against Filip Zeljko into a 5-set win. Bastian Steger had equalized for Königshofen in the meantime with a 3:1 (5:11, 11:5, 11:0, 11:5) against Luka Mladenovic.

Andrei Putuntica, 1. FSV Mainz 05: "My feeling is of course super good. But I didn't start well at all in my singles. Yuto was already favored in his two singles from my point of view, but nevertheless it's really impressive how he then wins the matches really confidently."
