Kulczycki and Baum put up a fight: Ochsenhausen wins against Grenzau
he second result of the 13th matchday in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) is in the books. The TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen won against the TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau with 3:0. Samuel Kulczycki and Patrick Baum delivered a back and forth match.
The team from Grenzau did not draw an easy lot with their opponent on this match day. The team traveled to the third place in the table in Baden-Württemberg. And the TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen had a good day, right in the opening match Can Akkuzu won 3:0 against Samuel Walker with 11:7, 11:5 and 11:4.
But then followed the match of the evening between Samuel Kulczycki and Patrick Baum. Kulczycki took an 11-9 lead in the first set, but Baum turned the score around in the second set to win 11-9 of his own. After two more close sets, the counters showed an even 2-2 - a harbinger of things to come in the final set. Kulczycki took the lead, Baum caught up until match point. He could not convert it, his opponent won the set with 13:11. Score: 2:0 for Ochsenhausen.
Robles makes it 3:0
Also in the third match of the evening Alvaro Robles found the right means against Nils Hohmeier. With 11:6, 11:2 and 11:9 he secured the 3:0 victory for his team and thus also the second win in the second round, after the team had only beaten 1. FSV Mainz 05 on Tuesday. "I am very happy that we won the second game in the second round," said opener Samuel Walker after the match.
Next up for Ochsenhausen is a trip to Bad Königshofen, while Grenzau hosts ASV Grünwettersbach on January 22. All games will be broadcast live on Spontent.
