Kilian Ort leads Bad Königshofen to victory
With an outstanding performance, Kilian Ort led TSV Bad Königshofen to victory against table leader Borussia Düsseldorf on Matchday 13 of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL). Düsseldorf, on the other hand, could not benefit from the loss of a singles match due to injury and had to accept its second defeat of the season.
At the beginning, things did not look good at all for TSV Bad Königshofen. At the end of the 13th match day in the German Table Tennis League (TTBL), TSV Bad Königshofen faced the record champion Borussia Düsseldorf. And right in the first single the guests had to give up due to injury. A push into the forehand, a block across the table and Bastian Steger reached out to Timo Boll.
But Bad Königshofen struck back in the person of Kilian Ort. Ort first defeated Kay Stumper in the duel of the young talents with a commanding 3:1. Stumper was able to compensate for the first close set loss (10:12) (11:9), but Ort then dominated the action. With two clear set wins (11:4 and 11:6) he brought his team back into the match.
Kilian Ort defeats Timo Boll and puts Bad Königshofen on the winning track
Ort was also the winner in the second singles match. In the generation duel, he defeated Timo Boll 3:2. In a contested match, Ort fell behind 1:2 after sets. In the fourth set, he needed four set points to save himself for the fifth set. There he fended off three match points from Timo Boll and used the first one of his own to inflict Timo Boll's first defeat of the season in the TTBL and lead Bad Königshofen into the doubles. Because before that Kamal Achanta had put Düsseldorf in the lead again with a 3:1 win against Martin Allegro.
In the doubles, Achanta faced off with substitute Dang Qiu and Steger/Allegro. And although Steger had to give up the first singles match due to injury, the two players from Lower Franconia showed a strong performance. Achanta/Qiu were able to equalize a first advance by Bad Königshofen, but the next two sets went to the guests, who could thus celebrate their eighth win of the season, while Düsseldorf suffered only their second defeat of the season. Bad Königshofen thus remains in contact with the playoff places and is level on points with the fourth-placed team in the table, Post SV Mühlhausen.
The table tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) continues with the 14th matchday next Sunday. Then all six matches will take place on one day. Among others, TSV Bad Königshofen receives TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen and Borussia Düsseldorf travels to TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt.
