Kick-off on August 23: Bremen and Dortmund open top-class 2024/25 Bundesliga table tennis season
The new season of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL) will kick off on Friday, August 23, 2024. SV Werder Bremen and Borussia Dortmund will play the season opener at 7 pm. All matches in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) can be watched live and on demand on TTBL media partner Dyn.
At the end of the 2024/25 season, will there be another giant duel for the German championship between record champions Düsseldorf and Champions League winners Saarbrücken or can clubs such as TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen, with top stars Hugo Calderano and Simon Gauzy, or TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell with national player and former world number 1 Dimitrij Ovtcharov and shooting star Kao Cheng-Jui break into the phalanx of the two title contenders? The Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) will kick off the 2024/25 season with a duel familiar from soccer. Play-off participants SV Werder Bremen and newly promoted Borussia Dortmund will face each other on Friday evening, August 23 at 7 p.m. to kick off an exciting new season. Fans can look forward to a highly interesting season with many top national and international stars in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL), as ten players from the current top 30 in the world rankings will be playing in the top German league in the 2024/25 season. In addition to top stars such as table tennis icon Timo Boll, Dang Qiu, Patrick Franziska and Hugo Calderano, newcomers Dimitrij Ovtcharov and Kao Cheng-Jui (both TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell) as well as Kristian Karlsson (TTC OE Bad Homburg) and Anders Lind (Borussia Dortmund) will enrich the TTBL as the strongest league in Europe with immediate effect.
A special focus in the coming season will be on Timo Boll. After announcing the end of his international career after the Olympic Games in Paris, he will probably play his last TTBL season and is sure to attract numerous spectators not only to his club Borussia Düsseldorf, but also to the away matches.
Champions and cup winners Düsseldorf start against Grünwettersbach / Champions League winners Saarbrücken against Bad Homburg
After the opening match on Friday, the second promoted team TTC OE Bad Homburg with new signing Kristian Karlsson will face Champions League winners 1. FC Saarbrücken TT with Patrick Franziska on Sunday, August 24 at 2 p.m., followed by two more matches. At 3.30 pm TSV Bad Königshofen will face Post SV Mühlhausen and at 5 pm double winners Borussia Düsseldorf will take on ASC Grünwettersbach. The first matchday will be concluded on Monday with the top match between TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen with Hugo Calderano and Simon Gauzy against TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell with Olympic participant Dimitrij Ovtcharov (6 p.m.) and the direct duel between TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt and TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau at 7 p.m.
The other match days of the preliminary round in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) have also already been scheduled and six matches will be played per match day in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL). The second round fixtures will be scheduled later in the season.
