Jorgic leads Saarbrücken to victory
The 1. FC Saarbrücken-TT consolidates its place in the top group of the table tennis Bundesliga (TTBL). The cup winner won 3:1 away at TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt on Matchday 7. The match winner for the guests was the Slovenian Darko Jorgic.
TTC Schwalbe Bergneustadt has lost twice in a row in the TTBL in recent weeks. And with the 1st FC Saarbrücken-TT, the Bergneustadt team, which is in 8th place with 4:8 points, faced a top team in the league today. However, FCS has also shown itself to be vulnerable on one or two occasions this season and already has two defeats in its statistics. Against Grenzau and most recently against Bad Königshofen, the reigning runners-up lost quite unexpectedly.
First Duda, then Saarbrücken
But against Bergneustadt, the guests lived up to their position as favorites, even though the hosts got off to the better start. National player Benedikt Duda put his colors in the lead thanks to a 3:1 (11:8, 6:11, 11:9, 11:8) win over Cedric Nuytinck. After that, however, only Saarbrücken scored. Darko Jorgic equalized against Alberto Mino, before Patrick Franziska and again Jorgic against Benedikt Duda made the 3:1 success for the guests perfect.
Unused opportunities
"I played really well today. I'm very satisfied," Darko Jorgic was pleased with his successful performance. "At the beginning I needed a bit to find my way into the game. The legs were still a bit slow. But then it got better and better. I have already played against Benedikt many times this year. We know each other well. In the end I also had a bit of luck on my side.
On the other hand, Roman Ruiz struggled with unused chances. "We are disappointed, of course. But overall it was a close match. In the fourth set against Patrick, I unfortunately didn't use a few opportunities, for example at 10:9. Very sad."
