Home victory in a quick run

Home victory in a quick run

Post SV Mühlhausen won 3:0 against TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell in its own hall on Matchday 5 of the German Table Tennis League (TTBL). The Thuringians did not concede a single set in 89 minutes of play against the last team in the table.

In the third singles match of the day, Fan Bo Meng experienced how close victory and defeat sometimes are. Against Mühlhausen's veteran Daniel Habesohn, the 22-year-old lost all three sets with only two points difference (13:11, 14:12, 11:9). "It was a close match against Daniel. In the end, he scored six points more in three sets. That's sometimes enough for a 3-0, which is tough." The national player didn't want to say much more about the overall result afterwards: "The team performance is of course disappointing overall. You can't really say much more about it. We deserved to lose." Like Fan Bo Meng, Quadri Aruna against Steffen Mengel and Alexandre Cassin against Ovidiu Ionescu also failed to win a set.

"A fantastic performance by the team"

After the game, Thomas Baier, club chairman of Post SV Mühlhausen, and freshly confirmed in his office on Friday, naturally moved much higher up the emotional scale: "That was a fantastic performance by the team. It starts with the coach, who prepared the players well and found exactly the right lineup, and extends to the players. To send a team like Fulda-Maberzell home with this result is not a matter of course."

On Matchday 6 of the German Table Tennis League, Post SV Mühlhausen will host TTF Liebherr Ochsenhausen on Sunday, November 13. TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell will also play at TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau on Sunday.
