Grenzau confirms strong form of the second half of the season

It is the third win in a row and already the sixth second-round success. The TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau also defeats the 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the Table Tennis Bundesliga (TTBL).

Yi-Hsin Feng leads TTC Zugbrücke Grenzau to victory against 1. FSV Mainz 05 on Matchday 20 of the Tischtennis Bundesliga (TTBL), defeating Andrei Putuntica in four close and contested sets at the start of the match. Also in four rounds, he also defeated Yuto Muramatsu and thus won the decisive third point for his team.

Earlier, Patrick Baum had contributed the second point. He had little trouble with Carlo Rossi. The German won in three rounds. Rossi still has only one win this season.

Maciej Kubik challenges Yuto Muramatsu

The point for Mainz came from Japan's Muramatsu against Maciej Kubik. In the end, the favorite prevailed, but Kubik showed a good performance. The Pole even took a 2-1 lead. However, he did not manage the last step. Nevertheless, he was satisfied with his performance in the end. "It was one of my best matches against a defender. In the end I couldn't bring it to the finish line, but I'm happy with my game and happy that we won," said the 20-year-old. Muramatsu prevailed with two close set wins to initially keep Mainz in the match. However, he was then unable to prevent Mainz's defeat against Feng.

The 21st match day continues on Tuesday. Grenzau plays in Saarbrücken. For Mainz it continues on Saturday. Then they receive the TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell.
